LEWIS GUITARS | Wingfeather

The Concept for the Wingfeather was inspired by the large trees the main woods of this guitar came from.  While musing about their majestic stature images came to me, and in this way the guitar helped design itself.

The top is very stiff old growth redwood from a tree that was blown down in a storm long ago.

The back, sides, and neck are native claro walnut with exceptional figure and nice color striping.  Both of these woods are rather brittle and resonant, which lends considerably to the clarity of this guitar's voice.

The fingerboard, pick guard and tailpiece are black ebony, and the finish is a hard short oil varnish.  The rosewood bridge adds to the lively clarity and sustain.
